The Center for Learning Outcomes Assessment’s researchers and professional staff members are moving to redefine the construct of college student success through its University Learning Outcomes Assessment (UniLOA) and the Dynamic Student Development Metatheodol (DSDM). The current nationwide college student graduation rate is around 55%. When considering the time and money spent as well as the loss of potential impact those not graduating might have contributed to the world around them, an attrition rate of 45% seriously questions the effectiveness of our current higher education paradigm.
A new way of measuring student growth, learning, and development is emerging that can directly improve overall college student retention and graduation rates while positively affecting higher levels of holistic student performance.
